Jaylen Brown is flipping internet jokes into a business move.

The Boston Celtics star announced a new partnership with Nutrafol this week, leaning into ongoing chatter about hair thinning that’s followed him online. Brown shared the news on Instagram, joking that he even considered flying overseas for a solution before deciding to take a different route.

“You all know I’ve been reaching out for advice on this whole hair-thinning situation,” Brown wrote. “I even called the GOAT himself, considered traveling to Turkey lol. But I’m now ready for the next chapter on this journey with my new partnership with @nutrafolmen hair growth supplements.”

Speaking with People, Brown said he first noticed changes in his hair about one to two years ago, particularly increased shedding after removing his braids. He tried topical treatments and serums but saw little improvement.

“When I first noticed it, it wasn’t significant,” Brown said. “But when I would take [my braids] out, I’d be shedding a lot of hair.”

As pressure mounted from playing in a championship environment, the issue became more noticeable. Brown believes stress played a role, especially following the Celtics’ 2024 NBA title run and the expectations that came with trying to defend it.

“It’s the high expectation to win, or the season is a failure,” Brown explained.

After cutting his hair shorter, Brown admitted he became more conscious about maintenance, including frequent barber visits and even using sprays to cover thinning areas.

That attention turned viral during an Oct. 24 game against the New York Knicks, when residue from a hair product transferred onto OG Anunoby’s jersey. Brown said he didn’t notice at first, but once he did, the moment hit him.

“I was a little bit embarrassed,” he said. “Then I got mad at myself for being embarrassed at all.”

Brown later laughed it off, embracing the moment with his trademark confidence.

“Those dudes should be grateful,” he joked. “They’re lucky I left my mark on them. I should get a thank-you card: You have the residue of a champion on you.”

Now, Brown says the Nutrafol partnership is about more than hair—it’s about being honest, owning the conversation, and showing confidence in the face of scrutiny.
