Prosecutors Reportedly Eyeing Indictment in Death of 15-Year-Old Celeste Rivas Hernandez; d4vd Potentially Facing Murder Charges

Written by on 01/01/2026

Prosecutors are reportedly moving closer to filing charges in the death of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez amid growing indications that musician David Anthony Burke — professionally known as d4vd — may face murder allegations.

According to TMZ, authorities are working with a grand jury tied to the investigation. While an “investigative” grand jury can compel witness testimony and gather evidence, sources tell TMZ this particular panel is expected to have the authority to vote on potential indictments. Multiple insiders have reportedly indicated that prosecutors, including Beth Silverman, believe Burke was involved in Rivas’ death.

Rivas’ remains were discovered on September 8 inside the front trunk of a Tesla impounded in the Hollywood Hills. The vehicle was reportedly registered to Burke. Investigators immediately treated the case as a homicide and believed additional individuals may have helped conceal the body. An official cause and manner of death have not yet been released.

At this stage, no indictment has been publicly announced and no arrests have been confirmed, but prosecutors are said to be weighing formal murder charges.

Conflicting accounts have also surfaced regarding Burke’s cooperation. While his team initially claimed he was assisting investigators, later reports suggested he had not been interviewed, and that search warrants were executed as part of the probe. Law enforcement and Burke’s representatives have not issued public statements regarding the latest developments.
