Angel Reese Levels Up With Netflix Role in ‘The Hunting Wives’ Season 2

Written by on 01/20/2026

The Bayou Barbie is adding another title to her résumé—Trainer Barbie.

WNBA standout and rising media star Angel Reese has officially joined Season 2 of Netflix’s hit drama The Hunting Wives. The Hollywood Reporter first confirmed the casting news, marking another major step in Reese’s fast-expanding career beyond the basketball court.

“i literally manifest my entire life,” Reese wrote on social media, punctuating the moment with tears-of-joy emojis.

Reese’s role is a playful nod to her well-known nicknames, “Bayou Barbie” and “Chi Barbie.” She first rose to national prominence after leading the LSU Tigers to the program’s first-ever national championship in 2023. A year later, she was selected by the Chicago Sky in the WNBA Draft and has already rewritten the league’s record books in rebounding and double-doubles during her early pro career.

But Reese’s impact isn’t limited to sports.

A self-proclaimed fan of The Hunting Wives, Reese made her obsession with the series public last summer. In August, she tweeted about binge-watching the show and openly criticized how Season 1 ended.

“Sooooo, will there be a season 2 or more episodes for The Hunting Wives because I’m not satisfied with how that ended…” she wrote on August 4.

Just days later, series creator Rebecca Cutter responded after learning Reese was a fan. Reese quickly floated the idea of joining the cast, to which Cutter replied, “On it, my queen.” Months later, that social media moment has officially turned into a Netflix credit.

The series follows Brittany Snow’s character as she relocates from Massachusetts to the fictional Texas town of Maple Brook, where she becomes entangled with Malin Åkerman and her elite social circle known as the “Hunting Wives.” The drama escalates quickly, leaving viewers desperate for more by the end of Season 1.

Season 2 will introduce several new cast members, including John Stamos, Kim Matula, Alex FitzAlan, Dale Dickey, and Cam Gigandet. While Netflix has not yet announced a release date, Reese’s fans will undoubtedly be tuning in to see how she fits into the show’s high-stakes drama.

The role adds to Reese’s growing list of entertainment projects. She’s also set to voice a character in the upcoming animated sports film GOAT, alongside Stephen Curry, A’ja Wilson, Dwyane Wade, Caleb McLaughlin, Jenifer Lewis, Jennifer Hudson, and more.

From championship banners to streaming screens, Angel Reese continues to prove she’s just getting started.
