European Lawmaker Tells Trump to “F* Off” Over Greenland Annexation Proposal

A member of the European Parliament delivered a blistering rebuke of Donald Trump on the chamber floor, forcefully rejecting the former president’s renewed suggestion that the United States annex Greenland.
Danish MEP Anders Vistisen made headlines today after bluntly addressing Trump during a speech in Parliament.
“Let me put this in words you might understand: Mr. President… f*** off,” Vistisen said.

He was almost immediately interrupted by the presiding chair, who reminded him that the language violated parliamentary rules. Vistisen did not back down from the sentiment, however, and the remarks quickly spread across social media and international news outlets.
This is not the first time Vistisen has used such language in connection with Trump. He made similar comments roughly a year ago when Trump first floated the idea of the U.S. acquiring Greenland, a semi-autonomous territory of Denmark. The proposal was widely criticized at the time as unserious, provocative, and diplomatically reckless.
Vistisen’s comments come amid renewed tensions between U.S. conservatives and European leaders over Trump’s rhetoric and foreign policy posture. The sharp exchange followed remarks from a top Trump ally who told members of the UK Parliament that he was traveling to London to “calm the waters” surrounding the Greenland dispute.
Despite that effort, the message from Trump’s orbit remained firm. Republican Speaker Mike Johnson warned British lawmakers that “a strong America is good for the entire world,” reinforcing the hardline stance that has unsettled European officials.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen also weighed in, condemning Trump’s threats of new tariffs tied to Greenland as “a mistake, especially between long-standing allies.”
While Trump has no formal authority over U.S. foreign policy at present, his continued influence has kept the issue alive—and reactions like Vistisen’s underscore just how toxic the idea remains across Europe.
