San Francisco rapper Rah Dizzy died after a broad daylight shooting in Oakland that authorities say left him with multiple gunshot wounds and a crime scene covered with spent shell casings.
Police responded shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday to reports of heavy gunfire in the 550 block of 17th Street. When officers arrived, they found Rah Dizzy suffering from multiple gunshot wounds inside his BMW. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Investigators have not publicly disclosed how many times the rapper was struck. However, the scale of the attack quickly drew attention after authorities recovered almost 60 shell casings from the scene.
Community outlet The Black Bay Area reported that as many as 59 rounds were fired directly into the vehicle, underscoring the intensity of the ambush. Officials have not publicly confirmed that figure.
Rah Dizzy built a loyal following throughout Northern California with music rooted in the unmistakable sound of West Coast Hip-Hop. He earned recognition through a steady stream of independent releases and music videos that resonated with Bay Area audiences.

Oakland police have not announced any arrests or identified a suspect. Authorities also have not released a possible motive for the shooting.
