YG Detained By SWAT During Drakeo Murder Investigation Search Warrant

Written by on 07/23/2026

YG was detained during a SWAT raid of his property as the cops hunt for info related to Drakeo the Ruler’s unsolved murder.

YG woke up Thursday morning to a SWAT team at his Burbank property, but the Compton rapper walked out the same way he came in – a free man.

Law enforcement executed a search warrant connected to the unsolved 2021 murder of Drakeo the Ruler, detaining YG around 7 AM PT while California Highway Patrol and Burbank SWAT tore through the premises. He wasn’t arrested, just held during the operation, then released.

That’s the reality of being linked to a case that’s haunted the West Coast for nearly five years.

The beef between YG and Drakeo was real, and everybody knew it.

Back in December 2021, Drakeo got stabbed in the neck backstage at the Once Upon a Time in LA festival during what his mother described as an attack by around 40 to 60 masked men.

The timing was brutal. YG was arriving at the venue that same night, and the streets immediately connected the dots. Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, and Ice Cube all canceled their performances once word spread.

The festival shut down. Drakeo died the next day from his wounds, and the case went cold.

Nobody’s been charged. Not a single arrest in over four years. That’s the gap that keeps this story alive.

YG addressed the speculation head-on with his track “We Know the Truth,” denying any involvement and pushing back against the narrative that had been building around him.

But speculation isn’t proof, and proof is what’s missing from this entire investigation.

According to TMZ, the search warrant suggests cops are still digging, still looking for something that might finally break the case open.

The timing couldn’t have been worse for YG’s schedule. He was supposed to take the stage that same Thursday night at 6:30 P.M. PT for a VERZUZ battle against The Game.

Morning detention, evening performance. That’s a hell of a day.

The investigation into Drakeo’s death remains active, and YG’s property being searched suggests authorities believe something there might help crack the case that’s eluded them for years.
