Lil Yachty Takes A Beating & Earns Respect In WWE Debut

Lil Yachty got slammed, swung around and tested by Baron Corbin during his WWE debut, but an AHH eyewitness says Boat more than held his own.
Lil Yachty got in the ring at WWE’s Sunday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta. He got in the ring and took his freaking lumps. And, we had a source that saw it all live and in vivid color. The person says he might actually have a future getting slammed for a living.
An AllHipHop source who attended the September 6 event gave a firsthand account of the rapper’s WWE in-ring debut, describing a surprisingly physical performance against United States Champion Baron Corbin.
“Lil Yachty did his thing. I ain’t gonna front,” the source told AllHipHop. “Lil Yachty—he could wrestle.”
Yachty’s appearance wasn’t simply a celebrity cameo. The Atlanta native had been incorporated into WWE programming alongside Trick Williams, appearing as his friend and on-screen manager.

That relationship ultimately put Yachty directly in Champ Corbin’s path.
The stipulation was simple but dangerous: Yachty had to survive five minutes against Corbin without being pinned. If he could make it to the time limit, Williams would receive an immediate opportunity to challenge Corbin for the United States Championship. Whoa.
Inside the arena, five minutes is a long time. Think how fighting an MMA fighter is? Long!
“You got to really be in shape to be swung around,” the AHH source said. “They was swinging him. That guy was swinging him around everywhere.”
Yachty didn’t spend the entire match running away, either.
The rapper surprised Corbin with legitimate-looking offense, including a hurricanrana and cross-body, while eventually resorting to a kendo stick and low blow as the clock wound down. Ayeeeeeeeee!
Our source was particularly impressed by Yachty’s willingness to absorb punishment.
“He’s animated, but I don’t know if it was even…I think he was really getting beat up,” the source said with a laugh. “Like, I really think he was getting beat up, but it was good.”
Whatever punishment Yachty absorbed worked. He held his side a lot of the time, even the celebration.
AND YET…he survived the five-minute time limit, accomplishing exactly what he needed to do and immediately opening the door for Trick Williams.
Williams then faced Corbin and reclaimed the United States Championship, making Yachty an unlikely but important piece of the title change. Teamwork makes the dream work.
Yachty went from accompanying a wrestler to actually becoming one for five minutes. And he did it in his hometown. By the way…
Hip-Hop Was All Over WWE In Atlanta
Yachty wasn’t Atlanta’s only musical representative inside the building.
Quavo was also part of the spectacle and T-Pain was in the building as well. Tyler, The Creator was spotted ringside supporting Yachty.
It was yet another collision between WWE and Hip-Hop culture.
“Quavo was there. T-Pain was there,” the source said. “Those were the only celebrities that they actually showed that were there. I believe there was a lot more.”
