Written by on 09/10/2026

Raz B and his wife Mona Li are grieving the unexpected loss of their three-month-old son Astro Monte Thornton this week.

Raz B and his wife Mona Li are grieving the loss of their three-month-old son Astro Monte Thornton, who passed away earlier this week in an unexpected and sudden death.

The cause remains unclear at this time, leaving the family devastated during what should have been a joyful period of new parenthood.

Sources close to the family confirmed the tragic news. The B2K founding member and his wife are asking for privacy as they navigate this unimaginable pain.

Raz B announced Astro’s arrival on May 18 through Instagram, writing that the family was at the hospital welcoming their newest addition.

The couple also shares son Versai Carter, and Mona Li, a licensed practitioner and entrepreneur, has a daughter from a previous relationship.

Just weeks after Astro’s birth, the family celebrated Father’s Day together, with Raz B posting a video of himself tenderly holding his infant son.

Raz B, born De’Mario Monte Thornton in Cleveland, Ohio, rose to prominence in the early 2000s as a core member of the multi-platinum R&B boy band B2K, which also featured Lil’ Fizz, J-Boog, and Omarion.

The group’s self-titled debut album in 2002 peaked at number two on the charts, and they went on to star in the feature film “You Got Served” in 2004, cementing their place in Hip-Hop and R&B history.
