Tragedy has struck the family of Minnesota Timberwolves forward Naz Reid. His sister, Toraya Reid, was fatally shot over the weekend at an apartment complex in Jackson, New Jersey.
Authorities say the 28-year-old was found unresponsive near the exit of the Paragon complex around 11 a.m. Saturday after being shot multiple times. Police quickly arrested Shaquille Green, 29, who prosecutors say was in a relationship with Reid. Green has been charged with murder and multiple weapons offenses.

Reid, a New Jersey native, is heading into his seventh NBA season after recently signing a five-year deal with the Timberwolves. The 25-year-old big man is coming off a breakout year, where he earned the league’s Sixth Man of the Year award for 2023–24.
The heartbreaking news comes just weeks before the NBA season tips off, leaving fans and teammates rallying behind Reid during this difficult time.
Jackson, NJ, where the incident occurred, is about 30 miles northeast of Philadelphia.
