Diddy Heads Back To Court As Judge Weighs Motion For Acquittal

Written by on 09/08/2025

Diddy is set to return to federal court this fall as he fights to overturn part of his recent conviction. A judge has scheduled a hearing for Thursday, September 25, 2025, to consider his legal team’s motion for acquittal.

The music mogul’s seven-week trial ended with a split verdict. Jurors convicted him on two counts of transportation for prostitution involving accusers Cassie Ventura and another woman known as “Jane.” But he was cleared of the most serious charges—racketeering and sex trafficking—which carried potential life sentences.

Prosecutors described Diddy as the mastermind of a criminal operation that used his empire to cover up illegal activity. More than 30 witnesses testified, claiming his staff arranged drug-fueled parties and pressured women into sex acts.

Diddy’s defense team pushed back, arguing prosecutors exaggerated consensual relationships and blurred the line between “unconventional” lifestyle choices and crimes. They also challenged witness credibility and said no real evidence proved he conspired with anyone.

The jury deliberated for 13 hours before reaching its decision. Diddy remains behind bars after being denied bail. He now faces up to 20 years in prison—10 years for each conviction. Sentencing is currently scheduled for October 3, unless the judge tosses the convictions or orders a new trial.
