Ray J Returns To Boxing Ring On Claressa Shields Undercard After Loss & Hospitalization

Written by on 06/27/2026

Ray J is stepping back into the ring on August 15 after taking a serious L just months earlier.

The singer and entrepreneur will square up against Orlando Brown on the undercard of Claressa Shields’ heavyweight title defense at State Farm Arena in Atlanta.

This comeback attempt comes after Ray J got knocked out by Supa Hot Fire in May, an experience that landed him in a Vegas hospital with a possible concussion and heart complications.

The May fight turned serious fast. Ray J checked himself into the hospital just two hours after the knockout, where doctors ran tests investigating a suspected concussion and abnormal heart rhythm.

Ray J had already been dealing with health issues earlier in 2026, including pneumonia and heart problems, so the hospitalization raised real concerns about whether he should even be fighting again.

But the man’s determined to prove that one loss doesn’t define his boxing journey.

Meanwhile, the main event features one of boxing’s most dominant forces.

Shields will defend her undisputed heavyweight championship against Kaye Scott, and she’s coming off a masterclass performance.

In her most recent fight, Shields dismantled Franchon Crews-Dezurn by unanimous decision, winning all three rounds 100-90 to retain her undisputed titles.

It was their second meeting, nine years after they debuted against each other in 2016, and Shields showed she’s only gotten sharper with time.

The August 15 card represents the collision of celebrity boxing and legitimate championship fights.

Zeus/Salita Promotions is running the show, banking on the star power of Ray J and Orlando Brown to pull casual viewers while Shields handles the serious business in the main event.

Celebrity boxing has exploded over the past few years, and this event proves the formula still works when you stack the undercard with recognizable names and put a dominant champion on top.
